Creating the world's best gin

From humble beginnings

As London’s oldest wine and spirit merchant, established in 1698, we’ve learnt a thing or three over the centuries in creating premium drinks and challenger brands.

From our humble beginnings, and the birth and boom of London’s favourite spirit, to the journey we took to create the World’s Best Gin.

1688

William of Orange, crowned King of England in 1688, came from Holland, where juniper flavoured spirits originate. He introduced a bit of ‘Dutch courage’ on the battlefields, and soon enough, the gin craze took hold.

So much so that 18th century London is said to have had more gin shops than we have fast food restaurants. Gin became the national drink of England.

We turned to the world’s most renowned gin expert, Dr. David Clutton, and a team of experts to create the ‘world’s best gin’. He and the Berry Bros. & Rudd team dedicated 730 days to painstakingly refine and create just this.
